Employee Driving Assessments
Are your employees driving assessments due?
McNics Driving School is a well established company. We offer driver assessments which are now required by law & further training is available that complys with ‘The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007’.
The owner of McNics Driving School ‘Lee McNicholas’ has been carrying out the required driver assessments to new and existing employees of extremely large businesses across the UK with the most recent jobs being carried out in Leeds, Stockport, Newcastle and Wales.
The aim of the assessment drive is to identify any areas which need development. The training course is designed to reduce or eliminate any risk of the driver being involved in a collision, and to help the driver adopt a safe driving attitude whilst being aware of what is around them, how to deal with any situation (hazards) and showing full consideration for the vehicle they are driving, wear and tear, fuel economy, and environmental considerations.
Are you breaking the Law?
The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 means that people who manage the company cars can be personally liable for accidents caused by their drivers. For medium to large businesses this can be particularly worrying because, quite simply, the more cars you have on the road the higher the chance of one of your drivers causing an accident. It’s up to the Fleet Manager, as part of their Duty of Care, to ensure their company car drivers are well trained to use the roads in a safe manner.
If you have 1 or more employees who drive in relation to work, whether its in their own vehicle or one supplied by the company, then you are required by Law to provide them with at least a risk assessment and we highly recommend our training package which will eliminate any driver faults that occurred during the assessment drive.
Many companies make the mistake of thinking that if the employee has a licence, the vehicle is taxed, tested and he/she is insured then they are protected. (This is not the case, they are driving illegally!)
Your company could face a fine of up to 10% of your annual turnover if you take no further action.
